The American Battle Monuments Commission
Web Site Privacy Policy
Thank you for visiting one of the web
sites maintained by the American Battle Monuments Commission including its National World
War II Memorial Project and viewing our privacy policy. Our policy is simple: We will
collect no personal information about you when you visit our web site
unless you choose to provide that information to us.
You do not have to give us personal information to visit our site. We collect personally
identifiable information (name, e-mail address, mailing address, phone number, or other
unique identifier) only if specifically and knowingly provided by you. Personally
identifying information you provide will be used only for such purposes
as described at the point of collection.
If you do nothing during your visit but browse through the web site, read pages, or
download information, we will gather and store certain information about your visit
automatically. This information does not identify you personally. We automatically collect
and store only the date and time you access our site and the pages you visit. We use this
information to measure the number of visitors to our site and to learn the types of
information that is of most interest to our visitors. We do not track or record
information about individuals and their visits.
If you send us personal information for purposes of making a donation to the
National World War II Memorial, we will use that information to properly and
securely process your donation and to provide you with the fulfillment premiums
appropriate to the level of your gift. The personal information you provide, with the
exception of credit card information, will be retained in our donor database. The
information will be used by us to provide information to you about the progress of the
National World War II Memorial project and to periodically offer you additional
opportunities to support the memorial fund-raising campaign. We do not
retain credit card information beyond the time required to process your donation through
the U.S. Treasury, nor do we share credit card information with any other organization.
If you send us personal information for purposes of making a donation to another
program administered by the American Battle Monuments Commission, we will apply
the same restrictions on the use of that information as are noted above in regard to the
National World War II Memorial.
If you send us personal information for purposes of enrolling yourself or someone
else in the World War II Registry of Remembrances, we will use that information
to properly process your enrollment and to provide you, if warranted, with a Certificate
of Enrollment. The personal information you provide will be retained in the Registry of
Remembrances database and will be accessible by members of the public who visit the
National World War II Memorial or its web site. The information gathered from you for the
Registry of Remembrances and accessible to the public is limited to the honoree's name,
hometown, military service branch (if appropriate), and brief description of wartime
activity; and the submitter's name and relationship to the honoree.
If you send us personal information for purposes other than making a donation or
enrolling yourself or someone else in the World War II Registry of Remembrances,
we will use that information to respond properly to your request. We are required to file
our documents, but will not use any of that personal information for any purpose other
than the response made to your request. We provide other government agencies that personal
information only if that agency is required to respond to your request, or if otherwise
required by law. We do not furnish that personal information to private nor commercial
organizations.
