DECORATIONS AND CITATIONS: EXPERT INFANTRYMAN BADGE, COMBAT INFANTRYMAN BADGE, AMERICAN THEATER RIBBON, ASIATIC-PACIFIC THEATER RIBBON, PHILIPPINE LIBERATION RIBBON, BRONZE ARROWHEAD MEDAL, WWII VICTORY MEDAL, SILVER STAR MEDAL AND PURPLE HEART MEDAL FOR WOUNDS RECEIVED ON FEBRUARY 6, 1943 AT NICHOLS FIELD, MANILA, PHILIPPINE ISLANDS. HE WAS IN THE HONOR GUARD THAT ACCOMPANIED GENERAL DOUGLAS MACARTHUR WHEN HE WENT TO OCCUPIED JAPAN. ONE OF HIS GREATEST MEMORIES WAS THE THRILL OF PASSING OUT CHOCOLATE BARS TO THE PHILIPPINE PEOPLE AND LETTING THEM KNOW THE WAR WAS OVER.
