ACTIVITY DURING WWII

BEGAN BASIC TRAINING AT TACOA, GEORGIA BUT DUE TO HOSPITALIZATION AND ILLNESS, TRANSFERRED TO FORT MCCLELLAN TO COMPLETE TRAINING. ASSIGNED FOR A TIME AS CADRE TRAINING TROOPS. SENT TO EUROPE AND SPENT THREE WEEKS IN REPLACEMENT DEPOT IN SCOTLAND AWAITING ASSIGNMENT ORDERS. ASSIGNED TO 325TH GLIDER INFANTRY REGIMENT AND PARTICIPATED IN OPERATION MARKET GARDEN. LANDED IN BELGIUM AND WAS FORWARD OBSERVER DURING BATTLE OF THE BULGE. WOUNDED, CAPTURED AND RECEIVED MEDICAL ATTENTION AT GERMAN FIRST AID STATION AND LATER GERMAN HOSPITAL. CONFINED TO STALAG 3A AND LATER STALAG 7A. RESCUED BY BRITISH TROOPS AT END OF HOSTILITIES AND DEPARTED FOR CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES THROUGH THE PORT OF CHERBOURG, FRANCE.
