Activity During WWII

SERVED AS A CAPTAIN. He was stationed at Hickam Air Field, Station Hospital, Hawaii, during the attack on Pearl Harbor. Under heavy enemy bombardment and machine gun strafing, he rendered first aid to the wounded and assisted in their evacuation to the hospital. Shortly after, he was awarded the Silver Star Medal at a ceremony at Hickam Field for his gallantry in action. He was recruited for Officer Cadet School and sent to Camp Barkeley, Texas. The rest of his enlistment was served at The School of Aviation Medicine, Randolph Field, Texas. He received an Honorable discharge in 1945.
