HE WAS A PRIVATE IN COMPANY A, 26TH INFANTRY REGIMENT, 1ST INFANTRY DIVISION AND SERVED IN FRANCE, BELGIUM AND GERMANY. HE WAS WOUNDED MARCH 26, 1945 AND DIED OF HIS INJURIES MARCH 28, 1945. HE WAS POSTHUMOUSLY AWARDED THE PURPLE HEART MEDAL, BRONZE STAR MEDAL, EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, COMBAT INFANTRYMAN BADGE, HONORABLE SERVICE LAPEL BUTTON AND THE WORLD WAR II VICTORY MEDAL.
